Meet Allie
Welcome to my corner of the mental health world! I'm Allie, and I'll walk with you on your journey towards a more balanced and authentic life. I find therapist bios super awkward so If you're feeling a bit awkward reading this, don't worry—I'm right there with you in embracing the weirdness.
I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) practicing in North Carolina, Virginia, and South Carolina (telehealth only). My focus is on helping individuals navigate the everyday challenges of anxiety, the rollercoaster of motherhood, tricky life transitions, the unique struggles of college life, and offering support to fellow therapists and helpers who might be experts at talking the talk but are struggling to "walk the walk."
Let's face it; life's daily demands can make the idea of a "balanced life" seem like a distant joke sometimes. But that's where I come in—to help you find some sense of balance so you don't keep neglecting yourself indefinitely. We work towards finding balance by developing and using coping skills (all of which are based in mindfulness). I'm a firm believer that each of us has a toolbox of coping skills, some of which might be hiding in plain sight. In therapy, I see it as unlocking your personal "coping skills toolbox." Think of it as dusting off those trusty old tools you haven't used in a while and making space for shiny new ones, tailor-made just for you. Life can throw curveballs that make us feel utterly out of control, but often, all it takes is a little nudge from someone on the outside to help us tackle those overwhelming situations.
Now, a bit about me outside the therapist's chair. When I'm not therapist-ing, you'll find me spending quality time with my family, baking, being outdoors, and playing with my dogs, Elphie and Lula.
For those curious about my background, I earned my Bachelor's of Science in Psychology with a minor in Criminal Justice in 2015 from Western Carolina University. From there, I began the Master's of Social Work program at the same university and graduated in 2018.
So, thanks for taking a moment to get to know a bit about me! Remember, therapy is all about finding the right "fit" and establishing a strong connection with your therapist.
